SOUND AFFECTS Music Picks

Holiday Picks/Christmas Countdown 2020:

12.25.20 The last song for our playlist - Silent Night. You've heard the tune, but have you heard this version? It's possibly the best version...ever. Happy Holidays to you and yours from Sound Affects today.

12.24.20 Does it get any more Christmasy than this song sung by Nat King Cole? Please enjoy our Holiday Countdown playlist today! We'll have one more special song to add and post tomorrow!! Happy Holidays to everyone.

12.23.20 This woman! We'll bet most people don't get through the holidays without hearing Brenda Lee at least once. Pass this on to someone who needs to dance today

12.22.20 Today's tune was requested by Melissa Mitchell. Wassail Wassail All Over The Town makes us think of a very UK Christmas and we picked this choral version from Quire Cleveland. Sound Affects is wishing you a very hale and hearty Holiday week today!

12.21.20 This Tune was requested by Rylan James Zoran for all of those listeners who are feeling like a Tom Petty Christmas this year!

12.20.20 Check out Son Little's version of What Child Is This!

12.19.20 Today's song pick is Noche De Paz performed by Trio Los Panchos. We hope you feel the peace that this song fills a person up with today.

12.18.20 Remember that time Bing Crosby and David Bowie sang a lovely Christmas Carol together?

Today's Pick comes to you from Steve, a Sound Affects care resident:

12.17.20 Another great song for today: Christmas For Cowboys!

This John Denver song is so simple and effective. Tyler McGaughey picked this tune, saying "It's like a lone campfire in the middle of a wintry plain." Worth listening to on repeat today.

12.16.20 Ralph Dominica say his favorite Holiday song changes from year to year but currently it's "In the Bleak Midwinter" because he loves the sad sweetness of the harmonies and that the song is a reflection of these current times.

12.15.20 Our Holiday Song of the day is Oh Holy Night! Classic. Beautiful. Melissa Mitchell picked this one out for us and told us she likes the Celine Dion version because, of course, Celine Dion is a queen. Cheers to that - enjoy this song and pass it along

10.14.20 We went for the original version of today's song to remind ourselves of the origin of many of our holiday songs: Movies!

Katie McClelland picked out Silver Bells as her Holiday Pick: "I think it captures the spirit of sharing the season with others" Couldn't be more true, especially this year, in our opinion!

12.13.20 Pick of the day is Fiona Apple’s version of Frosty The Snowman!

12.12.20 Todays song is Little Saint Nick by The Beach Boys - California Christmas style

12.11.20

Today's Song is Go Tell It On The Mountain! We love this current version by Kings Return. Check out their other music as well!

12.10.20 "Pretty Paper" is a holiday song made popular by Roy Orbison. (Willie Nelson's version is pretty fantastic too.) This tune was requested by Sound Affects Program Director Hanna Doreen Brown. Roy Orbison reminds her of her dad and she wants to add this song to Sound Affects' Holiday Playlist for all of the people who we remember during the holidays, especially those who didn't get a chance to become the older adults in our lives.

12.9.20 Today's song warrants sharing the absolute original version. This song was picked out by Callie Coberly. An incredible classic and quite poignant this year - this tune "rips your heart out in a good way" as Callie put it.

12.8.20 Today's pick is one of our favorites! Requested by a Sound Affects care resident, Leslie - We picked out a rendition by a Colorado favorite, SHEL!

12.7.20 Today's Pick is Blue Christmas. This request is in honor of a longterm care resident named Richard. Richard is one of the many residents who shaped Sound Affects programs before they became a reality. His love for music lives on and Blue Christmas was his favorite song all year long.

12.6.20 From one of their many specials, Peter Paul and Mary play such a great rendition of this song. Look at the joy in their faces!!

12.5.20 We dug deep to find this video because we can’t get enough of this black and white kids’ classic.

12.4.20 The wonderful harmonies of today's pick - Emmylou Harris' O Little Town of Bethlehem - were requested by someone who used to play this song on repeat on her record player for her kids during Christmas.

12.3.20 Carol of The Bells! This song was requested because of how musically moving it is. We picked out this cool cello version because we love when songs are reimagined!

12.2.20 Day 2 of our Holiday tune picks! This request came to us from a listener who told us he loves John Lennon's So This is Christmas because of its nostalgia factor.

12.1.20 One of the top Christmas tunes of all time. We all know the Bing version, but just as timeless, this one is from The Drifters!

11.25.20 We picked out three songs for this Thanksgiving to show gratitude for music as well as the indigenous artists who have shaped it.
